Summer semester drawing to a close means big plans for the Fall

The Summer semester is coming to an end here at Tech, and that means its time to get the ball rolling for the Fall semester, and when it comes down to it Fall semester can be summed up in one word..... football. Its time for another great football season, and our Yellow Jackets home schedule is as follows,

September 4, 1 PM - South Carolina State

September 25, TBA - North Carolina State

Octover 9, TBA - Virginia

Octover 16, TBA - Middle Tennessee State

November 13, TBA - Miami

November 20, TBA - Duke

The times of these games will be posted when they are made public.

In addition to football, there are several large events planned for this semester including a reunion for alumni from the 60's!

Other events include homecomming and a large philanthropy event in coordination with the Boys and Girls Club of America. Information on all of these events will be hitting the forum very quickly in the next month so be sure to check back often. Dikaia!

Glad to be back doing this,

Everett Brandt

DU 2nd in Greek Week!?

Thats right, Delta Upsilon took 2nd overall in Greek Week 2010, beating 3rd place TKE by 5.5 points. We also recieved the Greek Week Spirit Award! Highlights of this Greek Week included placing 3rd in tug, 3rd in doughnut eating, 3rd in innertube relay, 3rd in tire roll, 2nd in pyramid, 2nd in catapult, 1st in stampede, 1st in philanthropy , and seeing Brian Cantwell do the Chis Farley Chip N' Dales dance off a diving board (pictures soon to come). So thats the end of Greek Week as finals approach and the semester begins to come to a close.

Make sure to come to the Alumni Happy Hour at Manuels Tavern on Thursday, contact me or Keith with any questions!

Greek Week Begins

Greek Week began on Sunday and DU hit the ground running with a  3rd place victory in tug! Pictures will be posted soon. The swim team also took 1st, 3rd, and 4th in the three swimming events. Combine these with participation and spectator points in almost every event and we have DU in 2nd place at the moment!

The events today include the egg toss, homerun derby, catapult wars, and the alumni reception. I'll update with our standings tomorrow morning and all of Greek Week! We have a shot at first place this year so if you're in the area come out and support us!

I Week Complete!

Sorry about the lack of post for intiation. I wrote it but it never made it to the site somehow. I believe that is wha we engineers have been taught to call "user error." But the important thing is that we have 6 brand new brothers in our grand organization. They are.....

Joey Weaver; Pledge Name- Brother Theressa

Jay Moon; Pledge Name- J Money Shot

Mark Deggetano; Pledge Name- The Predicament

Tanveer Chandok ; Pledge Name- Jafar

Astor Castello; Pledge Name- Astor Glide

Taylor Block; Pledge Name- Weaver

These are the men that will be the future of our fraternity so lets all encourage them to stay active and help make this organization great.

In other news, the GT Alumni Career Fair will be tomorrow at 11:30, it is too late if your company has not already registered but people are always looking for jobs (especially the soon to be graduated) so if there are openings that any of you know need to be filled, please post here or send me an email (evbrandt@gatech.edu) and I'll make sure word gets around to the brotherhood.

April 22 will be the alumni happy hour at Manuel's Tavern. It will start at 6 and is a great chance for alumni to catch up with some of the older brothers, and meet the brothers that will soon be at the head of the fraternity.

So thats the news from the house, there has been talk of possibly having an alumni outing to a Braves Game at the end of the semester or possibly during the summer. I'll keep you guys posted on that. Have a great week!

Everett

Pledge Names

I'm not sure why I never did this before but I'm going to make an entry for people to post their pledge names. I'm sure there are some funny stories behind some of them so post your name and the story behind it if there is one. Who knows, could be fun.
